In spite of its high edition this unused postcard is not easy to find. It is not just a postcard. On the backside in four languages an announcement is made about an ultra short performance on three days in May 1969. On his balcony indicated with a cross mark, he would make a thump up gesture once a day as described. The card is often used as an iconic example of conceptual art, since the emphasis is put on an idea, much more than on the visual impact of the planned performance as such. KvG
The “X” card of Jan Dibbets is in the collection of both the British Museum in London and the MoMa in New York.

In 1992 John M Armleder initiated a plan to bring publishers of art editions together in a booth at Art Basel Edition. For that he coined the name Associated Publishers in order to come up with a convincing proposal to the art fair committee. His idea was that after the fair the publishers involved would open their own spaces for showing jointly their published editions. With this in mind he made an AP design that also exists as a small edition of enamel. For the first time this black and white plaque was shown in Galerie van Gelder, Amsterdam in The Netherlands in 1993. Until today an AP sign is hung next to the entrance of the gallery.

Introduction on fly leave: ‘The Muxlows’ is the history of an English family from Yorkshire. I found it in 1972, in the city of Leeds, in the last pages of a badly damaged bible. U.C.’
This book is a dry list of names that goes back to 1835 when Thomas Muxlow was born. It is the start of genealogical facts limited to birth and death. The first chapter “Parents names” is followed by “Childrens names”, “Marriages” and “Other family events”. In this way a family story is told as a family drama of generations, i.e. family members come and go. Again with this book Carrión’s shows his strong affinity with the method of archival order to set out a story similar to writing a novel.
